I officially started my professional relationship with technology in 1995, after having accepted a job in the mail room at the National Headquarters for the American Automobile Association in Heathrow, FL. While my primary responsibility was sorting mail that came into the facility, my knowledge of computers (thanks to my experience in the computer club in school, as well as some tinkering with my grandfather's Tandy TRS-80) opened up some opportunities to work with programs for the management of overnight packages and deliveries. During my time in the mail room, and with eyes focused on advancement opportunities, I took advantage of every training opportunity that became available and took classes on everything from Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint to Database Design.

I eventually moved out of the mail room and into a role as a Training and Testing Specialist with AAA University, which was the department responsible for providing training and proficiency measurement to employees at the various clubs. The internet was in it's infancy at the time, and I had an opportunity to build a new intranet site for the delivery of training materials and online proficiency measurement tools. I became more and more interested in web design, eventually embarking on some freelance opportunities designing and building websites. Database-driven websites started becoming popular in the late 90s, and after having figured out ways to integrate what I had learned from my database design courses with what I knew of web design, I ended up landing a job with Brintech, Inc. building websites and risk management applications for financial institutions.

Jump to 25 years later, and I've had the honor of being able to work and lead in many different areas of Information Technology, Product Innovation and Software Development. Even while serving in leadership and management roles, I've always enjoyed getting my hands in technology and building websites, mobile apps, or other solutions for problems or to support my own hobbies.

I've aways been driven by challenges and "unsolvable" problems, and enjoy new opportunities to discover how I might be able to leverage technology to work towards sustainable solutions.
