My Angler's Journey fishing app has been sitting on the back burner for a little while, and I woke up this morning with some new ideas so I made a few tweaks then headed out on the lake to do a little bit of testing.
One of the things I did before putting my app on the shelf was disable the weather integration. The new features I'm working on involving better location accuracy for fish catches, so I re-enabled the integration so I can accurately capture live weather data for whenever a fish is caught.
Naturally, in order to do this, I wanted to catch a real fish.
Fortunately my first cast resulted in a lively 13 inch largemouth, which smacked my freshwater go-to Rapala Original Floating lure.
I logged the fish into the app, and did quick validation that it logged the GPS coordinates and captured the weather information for the catch.
Since I was already on the water, I spent another 20 minutes or so casting around to see if anything else was feeding. Didn't have much action until the end, when a feisty 18" bass grabbed my Rapala as it was being retrieved just under the surface.
I logged the bigger bass as well, did a quick validation and also came up with a few more ideas for logging in the future.
